About us

Sometimes, just hearing those few notes at the beginning of a song can bring scores of memories flooding back. The people we’ve met, the places we’ve been, the good times and the bad which make life what it is.

That’s why Sentimental Radio is here just for you. To slightly mis-quote the lyrics of that class song ‘Sentimental Journey’ – which gave us the inspiration for our station name – every track will take you back! Every hour of the day we’re playing some of the greatest songs and tunes ever written and recorded  across the years  - Matt Monro, Shirley Bassey, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Engelbert Humperdinck, Perry Como, Vera Lynn, Dick Haymes, the Platters, the Beverley Sisters, Peggy Lee, Andy Williams…they’re all here, along with hundreds of others, with songs from Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, Rogers and Hart, Lennon and McCartney, Goffin and King and all the other musical giants of the last hundred years.

We feature birthdays of the great artists, hit parades of the fifties and sixties, and every evening at 10  there’s  ‘the Stardust Hour’ – mellow music to wind down your day.

As the Carpenters sing in ‘Yesterday Once More’:  ‘They’re back again, just like a long-lost friend, all the songs  I loved so well.’

Here are just a few of the artists we play, click on the picture for more.
